Week One ~ Grounding Into Connection

A Chairde,

I feel like I am always writing to you on a full moon! I was walking out of Tesco late last night and just over the tree line a great big hazy orange moon was rising. In August we call her the Sturgeon Moon ~ named by Native Americans after the giant lake fish that were abundant and easy to catch this time of year. Sturgeon fish are prehistoric animals that represent resilience and abundance. For me, the imagery of a great lake in stillness offers up symbolism for seeking deep reflection ~ going to the waterline in moonlight just to look at oneself ~ and within that deep quiet and willingness to look and see, suddenly and out of nowhere ~ woah! A jumping fish! Time to eat

Spiritually, this is a month to reap the rewards of your summer harvest :) To gather with friends for a slower evening, tell stories of the day, and enjoy your food. It's a time of letting go, taking stock, and seeking connection. So, naturally, let us gather this Sunday at Thrive for a grounding yoga practice together!

If you haven't signed up yet and would like to, please send me a message as I have the last few spaces available in the 5pm Hatha class and 6:30pm Soft Stretch practice :) As per tradition, when we begin a new yoga term we also begin a new yogic philosophy theme to accompany us on our journey. This is a way to potentially deepen your practice and consider the ways in which yoga might go further than just a stretch and boogie of your physical body :)

This September we are exploring the five sacred elements in yoga! Have a look below to see what we'll be exploring together in class throughout the five weeks ...

I am really looking forward to this one :) In both evening classes this Sunday August 30th we will be focusing on grounding the body to the Earth element. You can expect to check in with your deep breathing, open up your hips and hamstrings, connect with your feet, and give thanks. I hope to see you there!
